The Challenge
Gents Barber Club had been a Bay Area name since 2016 — ranked among the top barbershops in San Francisco and featured in GQ and Esquire — but their website wasn't carrying that weight. It was a single-identity site trying to serve two very different markets: a Mission District shop in San Francisco and a Santana Row location in San Jose.
That created three problems. Search engines had no clear page to rank for "barbershop in San Jose" versus "barbershop in San Francisco," so both cities competed for the same thin content. Walk-in-intent visitors — people searching on a phone, ready to book — had to hunt for the right location before they could reach the booking system. And the press credibility that took years to earn was buried below the fold instead of doing its job.

Solution & Strategy
Instead of one generic site, we built dedicated landing pages for the San Francisco barbershop and the San Jose barbershop — each with its own address, service context, and location-specific copy. That gave Google two clean signals to rank instead of one confused page splitting authority between cities. Both pages target their own keyword set naturally, without the internal competition that kills most multi-location small business sites.
On top of the location layer, we added service-level targeting. The Hydrafacial and KERAVIVE page for San Jose captures a completely different search intent than "haircut near me" — higher value, lower competition, and a customer who's already decided what they want. Every service on the site is written to read like a barber talking, not like SEO filler.
Booking was rebuilt around removing friction. The site connects directly to the client's existing Booker system, with location-aware links so a visitor never lands on the wrong shop's calendar. Book and Reschedule are persistent — visible on every screen size, at every scroll depth, because a barbershop site has one job and that job is filling chairs.
We also gave the brand's earned credibility somewhere to live. GQ and Esquire quotes, Google review scores, and press features now sit high on the homepage where they influence the decision instead of decorating the bottom of it. Alongside that, a WooCommerce storefront handles retail products, gift certificates, and memberships — turning the site into a revenue channel rather than just a brochure.
The result is a website that works the way the business works: two neighborhoods, two audiences, one brand — and a clear path from search result to booked appointment.
