A multi-revenue WordPress rebuild for a Jacksonville lifestyle brand — events, fragrance, and a custom rental booking plugin with Stripe checkout.

II Dope Chics — Multi-Revenue Brand Site & Custom Rental Engine

The Challenge

II Dope Chics is a Jacksonville lifestyle brand built by Millicent and Shawnta Pride-Daniels — entrepreneurs, speakers, and community leaders whose audience follows them across events, a podcast, a fragrance line, and speaking engagements. The brand doesn't sell one thing. It sells an experience, and the revenue arrives through four completely different mechanics.

That was the actual problem. Fragrance is straightforward product commerce. Event tickets are time-bound inventory. Speaker booking is an inquiry funnel. And equipment rental is something else entirely — a customer isn't buying an item, they're reserving it for a specific window, which means availability has to be checked against dates, conflicts have to be blocked, and payment has to happen against a reservation rather than a purchase.

WooCommerce handles the first one natively and does not handle the last one at all. Out of the box, WooCommerce has no concept of a date range, no concept of an item returning to inventory, and no way to stop two customers from booking the same equipment for the same weekend. The available rental plugins on the market solve this with heavy, generic systems that carry recurring license fees and force a business to work the way the plugin wants.

The brand needed all four streams running on one install, under one identity, with one cart — and the rental side had to actually work.

The Key Impact & Results

  • Custom rental booking plugin built from scratch for WordPress
  • Stripe integrated for direct rental reservation payments
  • WooCommerce storefront powering the fragrance line
  • Event ticketing connected into the same commerce flow
  • Four revenue streams operating on a single install
  • Speaker booking funnel for corporate and community engagements
  • No recurring rental plugin license fees

Solution & Strategy

We rebuilt II Dope Chics on WordPress and then extended it with the piece that didn't exist.

The rental system is a custom plugin, written from scratch rather than assembled from off-the-shelf parts. It introduces the logic WooCommerce is missing: date-range selection, availability checking against existing reservations, and conflict prevention so an item can't be double-booked. Where a standard product decrements stock permanently, a rental item is held for a window and released back into inventory when that window closes. That distinction sounds small and it's the entire difference between a rental business that runs itself and one that runs on phone calls and a spreadsheet.

Stripe handles payment on the rental side directly, so a customer moves from selecting dates to confirmed and paid in a single flow — no invoice sent later, no deposit chased by text. Payment and reservation are the same action, which is the only way a rental operation stays clean at volume.

Alongside it, WooCommerce powers the fragrance line, with the brand's two signature scents merchandised as standard products through a shared cart. Event ticketing routes through the same commerce layer, so a visitor who came for an event and leaves with a fragrance order never crosses a platform boundary. The speaker booking path runs as a separate inquiry funnel, because that conversion is a conversation, not a checkout — and treating it like a product would have cost the brand its highest-value engagements.

The rest of the build ties the ecosystem together. The podcast, the social channels, and the brand's nonprofit organization all connect from one hub, so the audience the founders have grown across platforms lands somewhere that can actually convert them.

Because the rental engine was purpose-built, the brand owns it outright. No monthly plugin subscription, no feature paywall, and no waiting on a third-party developer when the rental catalog or the booking rules need to change.
